Church Leadership
Session
BilThe word Presbyterian comes from the Greek word for elder. In Presbyterian churches, the congregation elects and ordains Elders to make decisions for the church on their behalf, much like how we elect people to represent us in the government. These Elders make up the church board, known as the Session, and serve alongside the Pastor. Elders serve three year terms, and are limited to two consecutive terms to ensure diverse representation. In the PC(USA), Sessions must consist of an equal number of women and men, and fairly represent all the demographics of the church.
In addition to serving on Session, Elders are also sent by their congregations alongside their pastors to Presbytery several times a year. Presbyteries oversee all the church in their region (we are part of the Presbytery of Arkansas). Every other year Presbyteries send Elders and Pastors to the General Assembly, the national gathering of all churches in the denominations, to make decisions on behalf of the entire church.
Our Session is made up of twelve Elders, the Clerk of Session, and the Moderator (Pastor). We meet once a month.
Moderator: Pastor Peg Falls-Corbitt
Clerk of Session: Bill Conley
Elders Class of 2025: Michelle Cheek, Katie Jackson, and Mickey Mobley
Elders Class of 2026: Beth Dunagan, Kris McGee, and Dan Yarbrough
Elders Class of 2027: Nita Brewster, Bill Cheek, and Jessica Moore
Deacons Class of 2026: Judy Calhoun and Jenni Marsolf
Deacons Class of 2027: Sandy Davies and Valery Jackson
In addition to serving on Session, every Elder is assigned to a committee. Committee meetings are open to anyone in the church, and we encourage all who attend our church to get involved in whichever area they are most interested in. If you would like to join a committee, you can call the office and we will put you in contact with the Elder on that committee.
Committees and Chairs:
Mission and Outreach (Dan Yarbrough and Mickey Mobley)
Christian Education (Todd Rasmussen)
Fellowship and Congregational Care (Beth Dunagan and Kris McGee)
Worship and Music (Michelle Cheek)
Budget and Finance (David Davies and Mickey Mobley)
Building and Grounds (Mickey Mobley)
Administrative (David Davies and Mickey Mobley)
